School Policies & Guidelines

The following policies are designed to ensure clarity, consistency, and a positive learning environment for all students and families at Blue Heron Music School.

Attendance & make-up lessons

  • Lessons follow a reserved weekly schedule

  • If a lesson must be missed, at least 24 hours’ notice is required

  • Lessons missed without proper notice cannot be made up

  • Lessons missed due to illness, travel, or other reasons may be made up within one month, subject to availability

 

Billing & membership terms

  • Tuition is billed as a fixed monthly membership

  • Billing occurs automatically each month on the same date

  • Membership reserves a dedicated weekly lesson time

  • A 30-day written notice is required to pause or cancel a membership

  • Billing continues during the 30-day notice period, even if lessons are paused

 

School calendar & scheduled breaks

Tuition is evenly distributed across the year and accounts for scheduled school breaks.
Monthly tuition remains unchanged during these periods.

Scheduled breaks include:

  • 1 week for Spring Break

  • Memorial Day

  • Entire month of June (Summer Break)

  • Independence Day

  • Labor Day

  • Thanksgiving Break

  • Two weeks for Christmas & New Year’s

 

Membership benefits & school resources

Membership provides access to the broader educational environment of the school, which may include:

  • Workshops and group activities

  • Instrument support such as string changes and basic setups
    (strings and materials not included)

  • Guidance with instrument and accessory selection

  • Priority scheduling within the school

  • Occasional discounts on additional services, when applicable

Availability and format may vary based on scheduling and school activities.

 

Educational commitment

Enrollment at Blue Heron Music School reflects a commitment to consistent learning, preparation, and respectful participation in the school environment.

These guidelines exist to support students’ musical growth and ensure a positive experience for the entire school community.

Photo & Video Consent

By enrolling at Blue Heron Music School, students (or parents/guardians of minors) grant permission for photos and videos taken during lessons, workshops, rehearsals, or performances to be used for promotional and educational purposes.

This may include:

  • Website content

  • Social media

  • Advertising and marketing materials

  • Printed or digital publications

No personal or sensitive information will be shared.

If you prefer not to grant this permission, please notify us in writing.

 

Privacy Policy

Blue Heron Music School respects your privacy.

We collect personal information such as name, email address, phone number, and payment details only for the purpose of:

  • Providing music lessons

  • Communication and scheduling

  • Billing and payments
