I'm Davide Sponza, founder of Blue Heron Music School.
For me, music has never been just a hobby or a profession—it has always been a way of understanding the world, expressing emotions, and connecting with people.
That belief is at the heart of every lesson we teach.
Whether you're taking your very first lesson or working toward advanced musical goals, my mission is simple: to help you become not only a better musician, but a more confident and creative person.

My Story
I was born and raised in Turin, Italy, where my musical journey began.
From an early age, I was fascinated not only by playing music, but by understanding how it worked. That curiosity led me to study guitar, music theory, composition, improvisation, and performance, shaping the musician—and teacher—I am today.
Over the years I've performed live, written original music, collaborated with talented musicians, and had the privilege of helping students of all ages discover their own musical voice.
Great musicians aren't created by memorizing songs—they're created by understanding music.
From Italy to Texas
Moving to Texas wasn't simply a change of address—it was the beginning of a new chapter.
Starting over in a new country gave me the opportunity to build something that reflected everything I believe music education should be.
That vision became Blue Heron Music School.
Today, I'm proud to serve families throughout the Houston area while bringing a European perspective to a welcoming, modern learning environment.
Why I Founded
Blue Heron
After years of teaching in different environments, I realized I wanted to create something of my own.
Not just another music school, but a place where students could feel inspired, supported, and genuinely excited to learn.
A place where progress isn't measured only by the number of songs learned, but by the confidence, creativity, and joy students gain along the way.
Blue Heron Music School is the realization of that dream.
Carnegie Hall
In 2026, I had the incredible honor of performing my original composition, Walk in Paris, at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
It remains one of the proudest moments of my musical journey—not because of the stage itself, but because it represents years of dedication, continuous learning, and a lifelong love for music.
Those are the same values I hope to pass on to every student who walks through our doors.
Beyond the Classroom
Music doesn't stop when the lesson ends—and neither do I.
Teaching is one of the most rewarding parts of my life, but it's only one part of my musical journey. Staying active as a performer, composer, and recording artist allows me to continue learning, growing, and bringing fresh ideas into every lesson.
One of my greatest passions is Espresso Rock, the Italian rock band I founded here in Texas. Through live performances, I have the opportunity to share the music of Italy with new audiences while keeping my own creativity alive on stage.
Beyond performing, I continue to write original music, collaborate with fellow musicians, and participate in projects that strengthen Houston's Italian and artistic communities. Every concert, rehearsal, recording session, and collaboration becomes another experience I can bring back into the classroom.
I believe students benefit most when they learn from someone who is actively living the life of a musician—not only teaching music, but creating it, performing it, and continuing to grow every day.
Whether I'm on stage, in the studio, or working one-on-one with a student, my goal remains the same:
To inspire others through music and never stop learning myself.
